7 JHC Osaka founded by Mr. Kyoichi Yashiki and others
8 JHC AIDS hotline started
9 JHC made the first investigation of how HIV antibody tests were being carried out at Public Health Centers in Osaka
10 Protests against the AIDS prevention Law at the Diet
11 Protests against a movie which contained discrimination against people with AIDS
1989
7 Tokyo branch established
11 JHC submitted a request for hospitals to accept and treat all people with HIV to the Ministry of Health and Welfare and medical associations
1990
8 JHC fact-finding members were sent to Public Health Centers in 12 prefectures in Kanto and Kinki districts to check the how HIV antibody tests were being conducted
12 "36 hours AIDS marathon hotline" started (JHC has held a 36 hours hotline every year since)
1991
11 Manual for telephone counseling completed
1992
2-3 JHC formally expressed its opinion to the Government regarding the official AIDS Strategy
8 Shikoku branch established
8 Voices of people with HIV/AIDS (No.1) published
9 JHC made a presentation at the Japanese Society For AIDS Research

12 HIV Counseling Manual published

3-4 JHC began specialist research regarding the blood product scandal which caused widespread HIV infection especially amongst hemophiliacs. This research was compiled into a report and made public
4 Okayama branch established
8 Sasebo (present: Nagasaki) branch established
10-12 Counseling for so-called "fourth route infection" began (HIV infection of non-hemophiliacs through tainted blood products)

12 Made speech at the Ministry of Justice public hearing on human rights
12 AIDS teaching manual Learning about AIDS published
Began advice service for teachers regarding HIV/AIDS education

2 Counseling+ nutritional support project started
5 "Young Sharing Program" project started
4-6 JHC investigated welfare offices regarding their handing of applications for the disabled person's certificate
6 Wakayama branch established
